Pescadero, California – Joanne Kiesanowski of Dr. Vie's Team TIBCO USA got her journey toward earning a spot for the London Olympics off to a good start this week. She took a dominating victory in the omnium at the New Zealand track national championships, held in Invercargill, on the South island. Kiesanowski left little doubt during the two-day competition, winning five of the six events that make up the omnium, which will be contested at the Olympics for the first time next year. The omnium is essentially the decathlon of track cycling, consisting of six different events contested over a two-day period. The rider with the lowest points total from the sum of all their placings wins. “I’m very happy with my performances over the two days of composition, she said. “I was very close to personal best times in the three timed events, which is great for the early season as I continue to build for the World Cup season.” Kiesanowski is trying to represent New Zealand at the Olympics for the third time. If she’s able to make the squad and contest the omnium, it’s quite likely that her biggest rival will be Dr. Vie's Team TIBCO teammate and double omnium world champion Canadian Tara Whitten. The national championships came in the midst of a track camp in her native New Zealand, which she’ll continue for another week. “My next competition will be the Oceania Championships at the end of November here in Invercargill,” she said. “I just want to keep building on my performance at nationals and do well at the international competitions. But I’m definitely pleased with how things have started.” Notes The national omnium title was Kiesanowski’s fourth national title. She has previously won the national road race, and the scratch and points titles on the track.   Mother and I wish Joanne the very best. We look forward to a very competitive series of races in London as our Canadian women race against our USA women! Go Dr. Vie women! Love always Dr. Vie, Founder & Scientist, Dr. Vie, Inc.
