“It was the best of times, it was the worst of times, it was the age of wisdom, it was the age of foolishness, it was the epoch of belief, it was the epoch of incredulity, it was the season of Light, it was the season of Darkness, it was the spring of hope, it was the winter of despair, we had everything before us, we had nothing before us, we were all going direct to Heaven, we were all going direct the other way – in short, the period was so far like the present period, that some of its noisiest authorities insisted on its being received, for good or for evil, in the superlative degree of comparison only..” Charles Dickens, A Tale Of Two Cities.
This book was a recommended reading for me in high school, and it brought me to tears as I poured myself into it even as a youngster. Now, many decades later, I find that more than ever, Dickens’ words ring so true. As we sit in the North Americas experiencing the heat of summer, down in South Africa people shiver from the winter cold. Yes there is a balance in many natural phenomena, created by Mother Nature. The question is why can we not find a balance in human society today? Why is there so much crime, hate and suffering around the globe, even in the developed nation of the USA, that leads the world?
My question for you is this: If you knew the root cause of the world’s problems, would you feel motivated enough to strive to change hatred to love and war to peace? Read all about it in my upcoming book – Taming the Female Impostor. In the meanwhile, as fans around the world revel in the joys of #worldcup2014 at the same time around the globe hundreds of thousands of children and women are in the throes of #humantrafficking and the war continues in the Gaza strip and not so far off North Korea fires test missiles! Are people not fed up with inhumane acts of aggression and abuse? Even in the best of families, children are flying off the handle and carelessly killing peers. What is the reason for people in developed nations like the USA to turn on their own families and commit murder?
Amid the fast pace lifestyle, competition, and demand for more pleasure, how do you go about living a good life with peace of mind? You need to get to know what makes you tick. Who you really are. What your potential is. By tapping into your strengths you can rise above the commotion and begin to see the bigger picture. Perhaps you will see the world in a whole new light, and you life will change for the better.
For there is always a glimmer of hope, all you need is to reach inside, get to know who you are and the sky is the limit!
